Type
McCobb Table Legs with Leg Plates can be fitted using the following 3 methods. However, the Specialist Table Fixing Plates have been specifically designed to support and stabilize heavier tops and furniture that will carry heavier weight. They are the recommended fitting for our table legs. For light-duty applications only, you can use either the angled fixing plates or universal fixing plates instead if preferred: Fitting using Specialist Table Fixing Plates - These low profile plates are specifically designed to enable a strong fitting of table legs to any wood tops or furniture. Pre-fitted with a recessed metal dowel screw, simply screw the plates by hand firmly onto the top of the leg. This will give a flat surface at the top of the plate. Then simply use the provided wood screws to screw the plate to the underside of the wooden top (Top must be a minimum of 25mm in depth). These plates are ideal for strength and minimalist design. Fitting using Angled Fixing Plates - This method requires a cavity of up to 7mm into the wooden top, in order to accommodate the nut on the plate. Pre-fitted with a protruding metal dowel screw, simply screw the plates by hand firmly onto the top of the leg. This will give an almost flat surface at the top of the plate, but you will need to create a cavity in the wood up to 7mm in depth for the top nut, in order for the plate to be fastened flat to the wood. Then simply use the provided wood screws to screw the plate to the underside of the wooden top (Top must be a minimum of 25mm in depth). This is an ideal method if you want the angled leg look. Fitting using Universal Fixing Plates - This method requires a cavity of up to 7mm into the wooden top or a cavity above the plate, in order to accommodate the nut on the plate. This is the ideal method for furniture where there is a furniture frame to screw the plate in to, but there is a cavity above the position of the plate. If adding Astoria slipper cups or other leg caps to the bottom of the legs then please note that up to 50mm of leg height can be lost when altering the leg to fit the cups correctly.

Set of four McCobb style mid-century table legs made from solid hardwood beech in a clean tapered style. Available in a raw, unfinished wood. Ideal for use with wooden table tops and to make unique retro look tables, cabinets, sideboards, desks and other furniture. Height 750mm, Width at the top 55mm, Width at the bottom 25mm. Finish the raw legs yourself to match or contrast with table tops using the stains, oils, waxes and other finishes in our Wood Finishing section. Fittings are supplied, with a choice of three different fixing methods, which are intended to make securely fixing the legs as quick and easy as possible. Simply attach the legs to the plates and then screw the plates to the furniture using ordinary wood screws.

Choose a fitting method from our specialist table leg fixing plates, angled leg plates or universal plates (Full fitting instructions shown at the bottom of this page). The legs can be cut down at the bottom before finishing if a different height or an angle is required. Astoria slipper cups in 4 different finishes are also available to add a brass leg cap to the bottom of the leg.

The McCobb tapered leg design evokes the memory of furniture from the 1950s and 60s due to the popularity of its use during this important period of furniture design. This style creates a very elegant, yet strong minimalist design which is ideal for today's homes and workspaces, which often are lacking in space and demand sleek furniture.

A range of finishes can be applied to these raw legs in-house, to order. Please select from the drop down box to use this service.
