How to give your upholstery a spring clean!

It's that time of year again where we like to give our houses a good old fashioned spring clean. But where to start? Are you dreading tackling that grease stain on the sofa? Here's some tips and ideas to get you started on sprucing up your home. Stains We all know that awful moment you discover a stain on that much loved sofa or when of the kids goes on a doodle session around the house. But how do you tackle it? fabric_cleaner amberclensupholstery_and_carpet_foaming_cleanerfabric_protector   Before treating any stain hoover the area thoroughly to make sure you have removed any loose dirt and dust. Fresh stains are much easier to remove than old, so wherever possible tackle that stain as quickly as possible! Check that the covers to stained furniture aren't removable. Sounds odd to mention it, but sometimes people don't realise covers can be removed and placed in washing machines (always be sure to follow the care label when doing this). Fabric cleaners are a great way to save you time on cleaning of those stains on upholstery. Just don't forget to check the cleaner in an inconspicuous area first before tackling that stain. And afterwards, protect that fabric from further soiling by using a fabric protector that helps to resist staining on fabrics. Pet Hair We all love our pets, but there is no getting away from the fact that a lot of pets leave around hair. So how to tackle it? One method is to wrap stick tape around your hand (sticky side up) and press over the affected area. Another great tip is using a damp rubber glove and brushing your hand over the surface. Leather Where possible, stay away from water. Excessive water can damage leather and end up leaving you with those awful water marks. Instead you could use products that contain oil and wax to clean and moisturise the leather. We hope you are successful in your spring cleaning efforts and if you have any great upholstery cleaning tips be sure to let us know on our Facebook or Twitter page!
