In today’s world, we are all trying to be more environmentally friendly and waste less of our natural resources. But, try as we may, we are still missing out on some important opportunities to fight waste. A key example, our furniture. When it gets old or goes out of style we buy new and, often time, the old furniture ends up in a landfill somewhere where it sits for decades, or longer, before ever breaking down. That is true, but we are seeing more and more reupholstering materials making the switch to green with recycled fibers being used to make new fabrics and bio hybrid foams being made out of soy products. Much of the backing and additional padding used in re-upholstery materials are made out of recycled polyester Dacron and dyed with all-natural processes. Re-upholstering your furniture doesn’t just change the way your home looks, it also has a positive effect on the way our planet looks.
